In French, the Chaise lounge actually means “long chair.” There, really, isn’t a better way to describe these seats. They are stretched so that your legs rest on the long seat. They can have arm rests or not and come in different sizes, shapes, colors, and coverings. These pieces of furniture continue to gain popularity in many parts of the world. With this popularity comes increased use of chaise lounges and the need to protect them. To protect our lounge chairs we use chaise covers.

Chaise covers can be found in just as many materials as chaise lounges can be found in. From suede to leather, vinyl, or cotton, the choices are almost enough to make a shopper’s head spin. Slipcovers for outdoor chaise lounges are made from material that will withstand the sun and moisture that comes with being outdoors. This will, greatly, extend the life of your chaise lounge, as well as your chaise cover. Using a chaise lounge slip that is made for outdoor use allows you to leave your lounge out on the patio or deck all summer without having to worry about the affect the weather may have on it.

Of course, your indoor lounges have a use for chase lounge covers, as well. Chaise covers that are made for indoor use come in two types. One type is very similar to the outdoor covers, in which it is used when the seat is not being used. It’s purpose is to protect the furniture from dust, pets, or anything else that could be around that might damage or shorten the lifespan of the item. The second, and more common, type are chaise lounge slipcovers that are kept on the chase lounge on a continuous basis. These chaise slipcovers are kept in place even when the chair is being used. Many of them have ties, straps, or Velcro that will allow them to be tightened around the chair to keep them in place during use. Most of these chaise covers are made of soft material and come in a wide variety of colors and fabrics to help them fit in with the rest of your decor. Use of these slipcovers will extend the life of a heavily used lounge chair. They are, also, very good at keeping pet hair or dirt off of the furniture if you happen to have children.

Another option would be to combine the indoor chaise cover and the outdoor chaise cover to protect your outdoor lounge from the weather and from heavy use. Simply removing the outdoor cover while using the chair but leaving the indoor cover on will keep it clean from dirt and water. The outdoor cover will keep the lounge and indoor cover clean from the elements while not in use. Chaise covers can be your favorite lounge’s best friend.
